"We care for your pets like they were our own!"

Nutrition and Food Supplements

Good nutrition is a necessary part of good preventive care for your pet. Whether you are feeding a growing kitten, a senior canine, and overweight dog, or a pet with a medical condition, proper nutrition plays an important role. The amount of available information on nutrition is overwhelming, with much of it being from non-veterinary sources. At Raymond Animal Hospital, our doctors and staff are trained to help you make the best decision about what to feed your pet. Our hospital carries a number of prescription diets that are used as a part of a total healthcare plan tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

A Word About Obesity

A recent survey by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention showed that 57.9% of cats and 52.7% of dogs are overweight or obese. The major health risks associated with obesity in dogs and cats include Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory difficulty, heart disease, and osteoporosis. Obesity can also decrease a pet’s life expectancy by 2 1/2 years. Nutrition plays an important role in combating this growing problem. We would be happy to design a weight loss program for your furry family member! For further information, go to petobesityprevention.org.
